Explanation
In this unit we learned long division of multi-digit numbers by one-, two- and three-digit numbers, division with a remainder, divisors and multiples, and finding the perimeter and area of different shapes. We check every division by multiplying; for perimeter we add all sides, and for area we split the shape into parts.
Worked examples
16 575 : 25 = 663, because 25 × 663 = 16 575.
Three squares are placed in a row (each side 40 m): the outer boundary is 2 × (120 + 40) = 320 m.
Class activity
“Unit quiz”: the class splits into two teams. Teams take turns choosing cards on division, remainders, perimeter and area and answering.
