Here are the sounds we learnt in Term 1. ch in chair. th in bath. ee in tree. sh in shoe. ar in car. gr in grapes. bl in black. pl in plane. cl in clock. fr in frog. dr in drum. The letter i says its short sound in pig and in fish. Say each word. Listen for the sound at the start or in the middle.

Worked examples
Listen and say. Which sound do you hear?
Three children sit on a green bench. A sheep eats grapes by the shop. A frog sits on a drum. The cloud is grey.
Now you. Choose three sounds. Write them in the air. Then write a word for each.
Class activity
Sound hunt. Write the sounds on cards. The grown-up says a word, for example sheep, chair, drum, black. The child finds the card with the sound. Then change places and the child says the words.
