Unit 6 Job Hunting: reading a CV, writing my CV and story themes
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Rewrite the note as a CV line with an action verb: “football team, captain, two years”
For example: Led the school football team as captain for two years.
2
Write a personal statement of two sentences for a fifteen-year-old who wants to volunteer at a library.
For example: I am a careful student who loves books. I am looking for a chance to help children to find stories.
3
Write three skills as short noun phrases.
For example: clear speaking, teamwork, careful counting.
4
What is the difference between the plot and the theme of a story? Use the story of Hamza as an example.
The plot is what happens (he repairs a book and a girl returns it). The theme is the idea behind it: small, careful work for others matters.
5
Write your first CV: name and city, a two-sentence personal statement, two activities with action verbs, two skills and your languages.
A one-page CV with the five parts, no address or phone number, action verbs in the past and no spelling mistakes.
