My own invention
Discover Term 2: Axis 3, Chapter 1
GoalSay the steps of inventing something that helps people.
New words
invent · to think of a new thing or a new way to do somethingproblem · something that is hard to do or needs fixing
Explanation
Inventors start with a problem. Then they think of ideas. They draw their best idea. They make it and try it. If it does not work well, they make it better. Farida has a problem. Her plants on the balcony get thirsty when her family is away. She has an idea: a bottle of water with a tiny hole that lets the water drip slowly into the pot. She draws it, tries it, and fixes it. Now her plants are happy.

Class activity
Be an inventor: with a grown-up, think of one small problem at home, such as shoes that get lost or a cup that spills. Draw your idea and label its parts. Tell the family how it helps. Do not use sharp tools or electricity.
