Chapter II review and final summary
In Chapter II you studied motion and forces. Main formulas: speed v = s : t (1 m/s = 3.6 km/h), force of gravity F = m · g (g ≈ 9.8 N/kg), pressure p = F : S (Pa), liquid pressure p = ρ · g · h, in a hydraulic press F₂ : F₁ = S₂ : S₁, buoyant force F_A = ρ · g · V. Atmospheric pressure at sea level is 760 mmHg = 101 325 Pa. Work A = F · s (J), potential energy E_p = m · g · h, kinetic energy E_k = m · v² : 2, power N = A : t (W). When solving problems, first convert the data to SI units, then choose the formula and write the answer with its unit. Remember: Pascal (1623–1662), Torricelli (1608–1647), Archimedes (287–212 BCE), Joule (1818–1889), Watt — their names live on in units or laws.
“Formula relay”: two teams take turns writing at the board the formula for a named quantity (pressure, work, power, etc.), then solve a small problem.
