Textbook: Part 1, lesson 10, pp. 31–33
GoalLearn the places and classes of multi-digit numbers and write such numbers.
New words
place · xonaclass (group of three places) · sinfones class · birliklar sinfithousands class · minglar sinfi
Explanation
Each digit of a number occupies a place. Places go right to left: ones, tens, hundreds and so on. For convenience they are grouped in threes from the right into classes: the first is the ones class, the next the thousands class. A space is left between classes.
Worked examples
347 296 has 6 digits. Thousands class: 347, ones class: 296. Read: three hundred forty-seven thousand two hundred ninety-six.
The number made of 48 thousands and 315 ones is 48 315.
Class activity
“Class chart”: a two-class chart is drawn on the board. The teacher says a number and children take turns writing the digits in the correct places.
