Review: technology, learning and character words
In Review 1 we use words from three units. Unit 1: digital words such as keyboard, headphones, website and screen. Unit 2: learning words such as visual, organize, mind map and improve. Unit 3: character words such as courage, curious, determination, achievement and inspire. Use the right word for the sentence by reading the words before and after the gap. Then write a polite email to a teacher about something difficult. Include: a subject line, a greeting (Dear Mr or Mrs), the reason for writing, the difficulty and why, your request (Could you please …?), thanks, and a closing. Write 60 to 80 words, or up to 100. Do not use a real teacher’s name in your practice email.
| Part of the email | Example |
|---|---|
| Subject line | Help with fractions |
| Greeting | Dear Mr Hesham, |
| Reason and difficulty | I am writing because I find fractions difficult. |
| Request | Could you please explain it again? |
| Thanks and closing | Thank you for your help. Best wishes, Dalia |
Subject: Help with fractions
Dear Mr Hesham,
I am writing because I find fractions difficult. I understand them when the bottom numbers are the same, but I get confused when they are different. I tried drawing pictures and watching a video, but I still make mistakes. Could you please explain it again or give me some extra practice? Thank you for your help.
Best wishes,
Dalia
