Symmetry and angles
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
The mirror line is vertical. A, B and C are 1, 3 and 3 squares to the right of it, at heights 2, 2 and 4. Describe the images A′, B′ and C′.
A′ is 1 square left at height 2; B′ is 3 squares left at height 2; C′ is 3 squares left at height 4.
2
List three right angles you can find in your home.
For example: the corner of a door, a table and a window.
3
Name the type of angle: (a) smaller than a right angle, (b) a quarter turn, (c) larger than a right angle but not a straight line, (d) a straight line.
(a) acute, (b) right, (c) obtuse, (d) straight.
4
Half of a figure is 4 squares wide from the mirror line and 6 squares tall. How wide and how tall is the whole figure?
Width 4 + 4 = 8 squares; the height stays 6 squares.
5
Draw an acute angle, a right angle and an obtuse angle with a ruler. Label each one.
The acute angle opens less than the paper corner, the right angle fits the corner and the obtuse angle opens wider.
