Plan together and write to a friend
Discover Term 2: Axis 3, Chapter 2
GoalPlan a day out with a friend and write a short letter about it.
New words
plan · what we decide to do, and in which orderletter · words we write to tell someone our news
Explanation
A good plan has things in order, with times. Habiba and Nour plan a day out: in the morning, the bakery; at midday, lunch at a restaurant; in the afternoon, a walk by the Nile. They work together. One draws the map and one writes the times. They listen to each other and share the jobs. Afterwards, Habiba writes a letter. It begins with “Dear” and the friend’s name. Then it tells the news. It ends with “From” and the writer’s name.
Worked examples
To plan a day, we say what we do first, next and last.
Teamwork: Karim draws the map and Mina writes the times. Both jobs are important.
Dear Salma, Today we saw a felucca on the Nile. I ate a sweet guava. See you soon! From Omar.
A short letter: Dear Salma, Today we saw a felucca on the Nile. I ate a sweet guava. See you soon! From Omar.
