Explanation
Our food comes from plants and from animals. A seed grows into a seedling, then into a plant, and the plant can give fruit with new seeds. Plants need sun, water, air and soil. Farmers harvest crops when they are ready, and different crops are ready in summer and winter. Healthy food has lots of fruits and vegetables. Families celebrate Eid, Christmas and Sham el-Nessim. We respect old monuments: we stand in line, speak quietly and keep them clean.
Worked examples
Mina’s family eats eggs, rice and tomatoes. The eggs come from hens. The rice and the tomatoes come from plants.
Plant A has strong green leaves. Plant B has droopy leaves. Plant B needs water.
Karim’s family celebrates Eid. They visit relatives and eat special food. In spring, Karim eats coloured eggs at a picnic.
