A breakdown on the road: who does what?
Imagine a car that stops at the side of a quiet road because of an engine problem. A connected smart system can help in three steps. First, sensors inside the engine notice that something is wrong. The IoT part sends a message with the fault and, using GPS, the exact place of the car. Second, the AI looks at the data. From many earlier cases it suggests a probable cause, for example that the engine is too hot, and it suggests a plan: stop, wait, help is coming. Third, the action: a repair robot, if there is one, is sent to inspect the car and fix a small fault, or a tow vehicle is called for a bigger one. Systems like this are being developed, and many places still use people for every step. The AI only suggests, so a person still checks the result.
| Part | Its job in the story | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| IoT | sends the fault and the place | sensor readings, GPS position |
| AI | analyses the problem and decides | probable cause, suggested plan |
| Robotics | does the repair or the help | tools, a part to replace, a tow call |
Write your own roadside story with a different fault, for example a bicycle chain or a bus engine. Use three short sentences: what the sensor sends, what the AI suggests, what the robot or a person does. Check that nobody is hurt in your story.
