Helping at home
At home we all help. We say: I make my bed. I set the table. I feed the cat. I tidy my room. When the family works together, the jobs are quick and easy. We are polite and we say thank you. When we write a list, we put a comma between the things: I make my bed, tidy my room, and feed the cat.
| Job | We say |
|---|---|
| make the bed | I make my bed. |
| set the table | I set the table. |
| feed the cat | I feed the cat. |
| tidy the room | I tidy my room. |
I need help in the kitchen, please.
I can set the table, Mum.
I can wash the cups.
Thank you both. We work together!
Can I carry the bread too?
Yes, please. You are good helpers.
Habiba helps at home every day. In the morning she makes her bed. After school she feeds the cat and tidies her room. On Fridays she helps Grandma in the kitchen. Habiba is kind, so her family is happy.
Helper chart. On paper, draw a chart with five jobs and seven days. Each day the child puts a tick when they do a job without being asked. At the end of the week the family counts the ticks. Say thank you to each other.
