Explanation
Project work is a small independent investigation, usually done in a group of 3–4. Its stages are: planning and sharing tasks, finding the needed information, searching for solutions and justifying the best one, running a survey or experiment if needed, and writing a report and preparing a presentation to defend it. A project may be practical, theoretical or a research project. Survey results are first put in a table, then in a diagram, and questions are answered from it. Results from one class cannot be applied to the whole country, because a class is a small sample; such answers are only approximate.
Worked examples
Class sport survey: football 9, volleyball 5, swimming 7, chess 6. Pupils taking part 9 + 5 + 7 + 6 = 27; the most popular is football and the least is volleyball.
Conclusion: “In our class many like football.” We cannot say this about the whole school because only one class took part.
Class activity
“Mini-project”: a group picks a topic (for example how classmates come to school), runs a 5–7 minute survey, draws a table and a chart, and states 3 conclusions.
Practice
1
How many pupils took part in the survey above (9, 5, 7, 6)?
27
2
How many more pupils like football than chess (9 and 6)?

3
List the stages of project work in the right order.
Plan → find information → search for solutions → (survey/experiment) → report and presentation.

Why can the result of one class's survey not be applied to all of Uzbekistan?
A class is a tiny part of the country; results elsewhere may be different.
