Test work
Textbook: p. 42
GoalCompletes a test variant on the Excel chapter: references, functions, text, IF, statistics, graph and equation.
New words
variant: one version of a test · variantorder of solution: the steps from data to answer · yechim tartibiself-check: testing your own answer by another method · o‘z-o‘zini tekshirishinterpreting the result: saying what the number means · natijani izohlash
Explanation
The chapter test checks the Excel skills together: formulas and the types of references, a reference to another sheet, text and logical functions, statistical functions, the graph of a function and the approximate solution of an equation. Before starting, read all the tasks and mark which functions are needed. Check the result by a second method (for example by hand or with another formula) and, if an error value appears, write its cause. At the end check the file name and the order of the sheets. When writing formulas, answer in the form typical of national-test and attestation tasks: “exact formula + short comment”.
Worked examples
Sample variant: 1) Find the largest number in the range B2:F7 – =MAX(B2:F7). 2) On the “Hisobot” sheet multiply the number in cell A4 of the “Narxlar” sheet by the number in cell A4 of the “Soni” sheet – =Narxlar!A4*Soni!A4. 3) Draw the graph of y = 2x² – 3 for x = –2…2, step 1: y = 5, –1, –3, –1, 5.
4) A city name is in A2 and a district name in B2; join them in C2 as “City, district” – =A2&", "&B2. 5) For a mark above 80 write “a’lo” (excellent), otherwise “oddiy” (ordinary) – =IF(B2>80,"a’lo","oddiy"). Checking the answer: with B2 = 85 the result is “a’lo”, with B2 = 80 it is “oddiy” (the condition is a strict inequality).
Class activity
“After the test”: students name the task where they made the most mistakes; the class writes one model formula on that topic together in 3 minutes.
Practice
1
What is =SQRT(16)+SQRT(49)?
11
2
Find the volume of a cube with side 4 with =4^3.
64
3
In =IF(B2>80,"a’lo","oddiy"), what is the result if B2 = 80?
oddiy
4
Why is it useful in a test to check the result by a second method?
A mistake in the first calculation (a wrong reference or bracket) shows up when the second result does not match.
