Explanation
Many people live and work in our community. Some of them are community helpers. A doctor or a nurse helps sick people at the hospital. A teacher helps children learn at school. A police officer keeps us safe. A firefighter puts out fires. A farmer grows food on a farm. Every helper is important.
Worked examples
When Salma is sick, the doctor helps her at the hospital.
The post office sends letters. A letter comes to Karim from his cousin.
The farmer grows wheat and vegetables on the farm. Shops sell the food to us.
Class activity
Look for helpers. With a grown-up, walk around your street or look from a window. Find three places, such as a school, a shop and a hospital or clinic. Draw one place and the helper who works there.
