Living, not living, made by people
Discover Term 2: Axis 3, Chapter 2
GoalSort things into living things, non-living things from nature and things made by people.
New words
made by people · people made it from materialsgoods · things that are made, carried and sold
Explanation
Living things grow, need food and water, and have babies. Plants, animals and people are living things. Some things from nature are not alive, such as a rock, water, the Sun and sand. Other things are made by people from materials. A chair, a bus and a bridge are made by people. Goods are things that people make and sell. They are carried by trucks, trains and boats, even by feluccas on the Nile, to reach the shops.
Worked examples
A cat is a living thing. It eats, grows and has kittens.
A rock is not alive, and nobody made it. It is from nature.
A truck, a train and a boat carry goods to the shops.
