Spotting fakes and staying safe
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Give one good use and one harmful use of AI that changes voices or faces. What makes the difference?
Good: dubbing a lesson with permission. Harmful: a false video of a mayor. The difference is permission, openness and the aim: helping or tricking.
2
Explain the forger and the inspector in your own words, and say what the inspector’s answer is used for.
The forger (generator) makes a fake, the inspector (discriminator) says real or fake, and the answer goes back so the forger can make a better fake.
3
A clip of an invented singer shows slightly blurred edges. Your friend says: it is certainly fake. What do you reply?
Blur is only a clue. Real videos can blur too. Let us check who posted it and whether trusted places show it.
4
Write the four steps you would take with a suspect video, in order.
stop and do not share→check the source→do trusted places show it?→ask a trusted adult or teacher
Stop and do not share; check the source; see whether trusted places show it; ask a trusted adult or teacher.
5
Name two harms a fake video can cause.
For example false news spreads, a person’s reputation is hurt, people may be cheated, or trust in what we see falls.
