Content, pictures and contact, safely
ICT Prep 2 Term 1, Unit 2, Lesson 4: pp. 78–81
GoalWrite content, picture and contact commands safely.
New words
contact form · a short form on the page that lets a visitor send a message without seeing any private addressprivacy · keeping personal details to yourself or to people you choosepermission · a clear yes from the person or owner to use somethingplaceholder · a stand-in text or picture that you replace later
Explanation
Content, pictures and contact need the most care. The AI’s first text can be edited, so read and change it. For a picture gallery, sample pictures are placeholders; replace them with pictures that you may use and name their source. Never use photos of faces or names of people unless you have clear permission, and in lessons we use drawings or invented objects. For contact, never write a real phone number, address or e-mail on a page that other people can see. Use a contact form instead, and say “a link to the club’s page, only with a grown-up”. If you need a QR code, write the label “QR code” in a box; we do not draw it. Ask a teacher and parents before adding any real contact detail.
Safe
Not safe
a contact form
a real phone number on the page
drawings or invented objects
a photo of a person’s face
pictures you may use, with the source named
a picture from somewhere, with no permission
a link to the club page, with a grown-up
a home address
Worked examples
sample pictures→replace with allowed pictures→name the source→teacher approves
Hana writes a command for the gallery: “Add a gallery with six sample pictures of plants in a grid. I will replace them with drawings made by our club.” She does not mention any face or name. A teacher approves.
Omar’s first idea is to write his phone number on the Contact page. His group finds the safety card and changes the command: “Add a contact form with the fields Message and Subject.” The page shows no real number, address or e-mail.
Class activity
Make a safety card with five rules for a club website: no real phone, address or e-mail; contact form instead; pictures only with permission; no faces or names; teacher and parents agree first. Then write the picture and contact commands for the Garden Club in a safe way.
Practice
1
What do we use instead of a phone number on a public page?
A contact form.
2
What are sample pictures and what do we do with them?
They are placeholders; we replace them with pictures we may use and name the source.
3
Why do we not use photos of faces in lessons?
Faces are personal data; we use drawings or invented objects.
4
Who must agree before real contact details are added?
