A water tank has 8 1/2 L. Karim pours out 3 3/4 L, then adds 1 1/4 L. How much water is in the tank now?
8 2/4 − 3 3/4 = 7 6/4 − 3 3/4 = 4 3/4 L. Then 4 3/4 + 1 1/4 = 5 4/4 = 6 L.
