Rewrite 3/4 and 5/6 with a common denominator and say which is greater.
LCM = 12. 3/4 = 9/12 and 5/6 = 10/12. So 5/6 is greater.
2
Put 2/3, 3/4 and 7/12 in order from smallest to largest.
In twelfths: 8/12, 9/12, 7/12. Order: 7/12, 2/3, 3/4.
3
Estimate 7/8 + 6/11 using benchmarks.
7/8 is close to 1 and 6/11 is close to 1/2. About 1 1/2.
4
Use sixths to work out 1/2 + 1/6 and 2/3 − 1/6.
3/6 + 1/6 = 4/6 = 2/3. And 4/6 − 1/6 = 3/6 = 1/2.
