Using an atlas, find the 5 largest countries and write their areas.
Russia, Canada, China, the USA, Brazil (China and the USA are close in area, so their order may differ by source).

On a blank map colour the G7 states.
The USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy.

For three continents of your choice write an island, a peninsular and a landlocked example where possible.
For example: Asia – Japan, Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan; Europe – Iceland, Italy, Czechia; Africa – Madagascar, Egypt (coastal), Ethiopia.

Why does the number of states change over time? Write 3–4 sentences.
New states appear through the end of colonial rule, the split of large states (USSR, Yugoslavia), mergers (Germany, Yemen) and referendums.

Describe the development level of one country of your choice using two criteria.
For example Germany: high GDP per person; machinery leads its exports – a developed country.
