Find 7 × 40 and 360 ÷ 9.
7 × 4 = 28, so 7 × 40 = 280. 36 ÷ 9 = 4, so 360 ÷ 9 = 40.
2
A shop sells pencil packs. Each pack costs 30 LE. How much do 8 packs cost?
8 × 3 = 24, so 8 × 30 = 240 LE.
3
Find 4 × 9 in two ways: with threes and by doubling twice.
3 × 9 = 27 and 27 + 9 = 36. Also 9 + 9 = 18 and 18 + 18 = 36. So 4 × 9 = 36.
4
Find the area and perimeter of the rectangle.
Area: 11 × 6 = 66 square metres. Perimeter: 11 + 6 + 11 + 6 = 34 m.
5
Solve: 305 + 198, 600 − 245, 6 × 7 and 56 ÷ 8.
305 + 198 = 503, 600 − 245 = 355, 6 × 7 = 42 and 56 ÷ 8 = 7.
