10 + 6 = 16 and 16 − 12 = 4, so it arrives at 4:30 p.m.

A hall floor is 8 units long and 7 units wide. What is its area?
8 × 7 = 56 square units.

Find the area of this L-shaped room by cutting it into two rectangles.
Cut it into 6 × 2 = 12 at the bottom and 4 × 3 = 12 at the top. The area is 12 + 12 = 24 square units.

Write the fact family for 4, 12 and 48. Then find half of 48.
4 × 12 = 48, 12 × 4 = 48, 48 ÷ 4 = 12 and 48 ÷ 12 = 4. Half of 48 is 48 ÷ 2 = 24.
