Put these fractions in order from least to greatest: 5/8, 2/8, 7/8, 1/8.
1/8, 2/8, 5/8, 7/8.
2
Which is greater, 1/3 or 1/6? Draw two bars of the same length to show why.
1/3 > 1/6. The bar cut into 3 parts has bigger parts than the bar cut into 6 parts.
3
Ask 8 people at home to say how many glasses of water they drank today. Make a dot plot and count how many people drank more than 4 glasses.
Check that the plot has a title, a number line with units and exactly 8 dots. Count only the dots on 5 or more.

Farida writes 3,052 = 3,000 + 500 + 2. Check by adding and correct her answer.
3,000 + 500 + 2 = 3,502, not 3,052. The 5 is in the tens place, so the correct form is 3,000 + 50 + 2.

Draw a model for 5/6 and a model for 2/6. Which model shows the greater fraction?
Draw two equal bars cut into 6 parts: shade 5 parts in one and 2 parts in the other. The model with 5 parts shows the greater fraction.
