Numbers in words
Discover Mathematics P2: Term 1, Lessons 21–30
GoalWrite three-digit numbers in standard form and in words.
New words
standard form · a number written with digits, like 345word form · a number written with wordshundred · ten tens: 100
Explanation
We can write a number in two ways. Standard form uses digits: 345. Word form uses words: three hundred forty-five. Say the hundreds first, then the tens and ones. For 214 we say two hundred fourteen. For 560 we say five hundred sixty. When a place is zero we do not say it: 807 is eight hundred seven.
| Standard form | Word form |
