New words
half · one of 2 equal partsthird · one of 3 equal partsfourth · one of 4 equal parts, also called a quarterwhole · all the parts together
Explanation

When a whole is cut into 2 equal parts, each part is a half. When it is cut into 3 equal parts, each part is a third. When it is cut into 4 equal parts, each part is a fourth, or a quarter. 2 halves make one whole. 3 thirds make one whole. 4 fourths make one whole.
