1
Subtract 5 1/6 − 2 5/6.
Regroup: 5 1/6 = 4 7/6. Then 7/6 − 5/6 = 2/6 and 4 − 2 = 2. The difference is 2 2/6 (= 2 1/3). Check: 2 2/6 + 2 5/6 = 4 7/6 = 5 1/6.
2
Write 0.45 as a fraction. Then add 7/10 + 6/100 and write the sum as a decimal.
0.45 = 45/100. 7/10 + 6/100 = 70/100 + 6/100 = 76/100 = 0.76.
3
Six ropes have these lengths in metres: 1/4, 1/2, 1/4, 3/4, 1/2, 1/2. Make a line plot. How many dots are above 1/2? What is the total length?
3 dots are above 1/2. Total: 1/4 + 1/2 + 1/4 + 3/4 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 1/4 + 2/4 + 1/4 + 3/4 + 2/4 + 2/4 = 11/4 = 2 3/4 m.

A tile is a regular hexagon with side 9 cm. Find its perimeter. Name two quadrilaterals that have two pairs of parallel sides.
Perimeter = 6 × 9 = 54 cm. For example a rectangle and a rhombus (also a square or a parallelogram).
5
Draw an angle of 65° and one of 115° next to each other on a straight line. Check that they make 180°.
65° + 115° = 180°, so together they make a straight angle.
