Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write >, < or =: 5/9 __ 7/9 and 3/5 __ 3/10.
5/9 < 7/9 (5 < 7). 3/5 > 3/10 (fifths are bigger than tenths).
2
Write three fractions equal to 2/3.
4/6, 6/9 and 8/12 (multiply both by 2, 3 and 4).
3
Simplify 8/12 by dividing the top and the bottom by 4.
8 ÷ 4 = 2 and 12 ÷ 4 = 3. 8/12 = 2/3.

Aya ate 3/8 of a pizza and Youssef ate 1/2 of an equal pizza. Who ate more? Use the benchmark 1/2.
Half of 8 is 4, and 3 < 4, so 3/8 < 1/2. Youssef ate more.
5
Put 1/8, 3/4, 1/2 and 9/10 in order from the smallest to the greatest. Use benchmarks.
1/8 is close to 0, 1/2 is the middle, 3/4 is between 1/2 and 1, and 9/10 is the closest to 1 (only 1/10 away, while 3/4 is 1/4 away). Order: 1/8 < 1/2 < 3/4 < 9/10.
