Find 6 × 235 with an area model.
6 × 200 = 1,200; 6 × 30 = 180; 6 × 5 = 30. 1,200 + 180 + 30 = 1,410.
2
Use the distributive property to find 8 × 63.
8 × 60 + 8 × 3 = 480 + 24 = 504.
3
Find 7 × 3,128 with the short method and check with an estimate.
7 × 8 = 56 (write 6, carry 5); 7 × 2 = 14 + 5 = 19 (write 9, carry 1); 7 × 1 = 7 + 1 = 8; 7 × 3 = 21. Product 21,896. Estimate: 7 × 3,000 = 21,000, so it is sensible.
