16 ÷ 4 = 4, and 3 × 4 = 12. So 3/4 of 16 is 12.

Shade 4 of the 8 parts. The fraction is 4/8, and 4/8 = 1/2.

A plate costs 6 LE. Mariam buys 9 plates and pays with 100 LE. How much change does she get?
9 × 6 = 54 LE. Then 100 − 54 = 46 LE change.

A rectangular field is 15 m long and 8 m wide. Find its area and the length of fence around it.
Area: 15 × 8 = 120 square metres. Fence = perimeter: 15 + 8 + 15 + 8 = 46 m.

A bus trip starts at 9:40 a.m. and ends at 1:10 p.m. How long is the trip?
9:40 to 10:00 is 20 minutes, 10:00 to 1:00 is 3 hours and 1:00 to 1:10 is 10 minutes. The trip is 3 hours 30 minutes.
