Explanation
The arrangement of letters in a certain order is called the alphabet. The Latin-based Uzbek alphabet consists of 26 letters, 3 letter combinations (sh, ch, ng) and 1 glottal-stop mark. The alphabet: A, B, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, X, Y, Z, O‘, G‘, then Sh, Ch, Ng. A Law on introducing the Latin-based alphabet was adopted on 2 September 1993, and the spelling rules were approved on 24 August 1995. Knowing the alphabet order helps find words in a dictionary.
Worked examples

The glottal mark is used inside words: ma’no, sur’at, jur’at.
